RARE Maisons is an edited collection of the world's rarest hotels, founded in Bangkok. We began in Asia and grow one destination at a time.

How we choose

Four tests. No exceptions.

Few rooms, a singular setting, or a story no other hotel can tell.

Quiet rooms, real privacy and service that never intrudes.

A hotel that could only exist where it stands.

Honesty

We publish real rates with the date we checked them.

How we earn

Booking site links pay us a small affiliate commission, at no extra cost to you, and we will always tell you when a link is an affiliate link. Hotels never pay to appear in the collection or on The RARE List.

“We kept a private list of the hotels we would send our own families to. This site is that list.”

We are a small team in Bangkok who travel for the hotels as much as the places. Over the years friends kept asking the same question: where should we stay? The answer was never the biggest name or the newest opening. It was the place with the right room, the right view and people who remember how you take your coffee.

RARE Maisons is that answer, written down. We choose every hotel by hand, we say plainly who each one suits, and we never take money to include a hotel. When a hotel stops being rare, it leaves the list.
