The harbour city
Hong Kong
Hong Kong, from the best seat on the harbour.
Few cities are defined by a single view. In Hong Kong the hotels compete for it, and the winners are some of the most celebrated in the world.
Hong Kong is vertical, fast and endlessly rewarding. Its great hotels split across the harbour: Kowloon looks across at the island skyline, while Central sits beneath the Peak with the water at its feet.
We choose Hong Kong hotels on the view from the room, the quality of the service and the dining under one roof, because in this city the best restaurants are often upstairs from your bed.
Know the city
Where to base yourself.
Tsim Sha Tsui
Kowloon's waterfront, with the classic view across to the island.
Central
The financial heart, beneath the Peak, steps from the ferry piers.

Calm towers and gardens between Central and Wan Chai.
Practical
Before you go.
- Getting there
- Hong Kong International (HKG) connects to almost everywhere. The Airport Express reaches Central in about 25 minutes, and most hotels offer car transfers.
- When to go
- October to December is clear, dry and comfortable. Spring can be humid and misty. Summer is hot with a chance of typhoons.
- Currency
- Hong Kong dollar (HKD).
- Our tip
- Pay for the harbour view. In Hong Kong it is not a nice extra, it is the whole point.
