Velaa is a private island in the Noonu Atoll that opened in December 2013. It has 47 villas, and every guest has a personal butler.
The island is known for two things. The first is golf: Velaa has its own course and academy. The second is wine: the hotel describes its cellar as one of the rarest in the world.
The villas start with beach and water pool villas and grow to four Private Residences of 1,324 square metres, each with four bedrooms. The Romantic Residence covers 598 square metres and is built for two.
There are four restaurants, Aragu, Tavaru, Faiy and Athiri, and the island hosts visiting chefs through the year. The spa, water sports and a children's programme fill the rest of the day.
