Amandari opened in 1989 on the lip of the Ayung River Gorge, beside the village of Kedewatan, about ten minutes by car from Ubud. It was designed after a traditional Balinese village, with thatched pavilions and villas and a curving pool that mirrors the rice paddies. It holds one MICHELIN Key in the MICHELIN Guide's 2026 selection.

A sacred stone tiger presides over the resort, and winding paths lead through the gardens to free standing pavilions and villas. They have alang alang thatched roofs, coconut, teak and bamboo interiors, shaded terraces and outdoor soaking tubs, and some have private pools.

The Amandari Two Bedroom Villa, 700 square metres, joins a One Bedroom Villa to a Valley Pavilion, with a separate living pavilion, a private bale, an outdoor marble bathtub and a private infinity pool. The Amandari Three Bedroom Villa, 688 square metres, is a standalone Balinese style home with three bedrooms around a two tiered 14 metre pool, with a full kitchen and an open air dining bale.

The Duplex Pool Villa and the Ayung Pool Duplex Villa spread across two levels, and the Asmara Pool Villa looks over the jungle and the rice paddies. The hotel arranges a Melukat water blessing, cultural visits and active days out, and dining runs from The Restaurant to the Terrace Bar.
