Badrutt's Palace was founded in 1896 by Caspar Badrutt. It stands on Via Serlas in the centre of St. Moritz, with its tower above the lake and the boutiques of the village at the door, some of them on the hotel's own ground floor.
Coco Chanel, Charlie Chaplin, Alfred Hitchcock and Marlene Dietrich all stayed here. The rooms were designed by Champalimaud Design, and the newer Serlas Wing, by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, adds 25 rooms and suites in oak, Valmalenco stone and Loro Piana fabrics. The Tower Penthouse Apartment, a four bedroom residence, fills the top three floors of the tower.
The hotel runs up to eleven restaurants in winter. Le Grand Hall, known as the living room of St. Moritz, serves afternoon tea to a pianist. La Coupole, in the old tennis hall under a glass dome, is run by Nobu Matsuhisa. Le Relais prepares many of its dishes at the table, and King's Social House, with Jason Atherton, hands over to DJs late in the evening. Chesa Veglia, the old farmhouse next to the hotel, holds the pizzeria, the grill and a fondue room.
Palace Wellness was rebuilt between 2008 and 2010, and in 2024 the hotel added a redesigned outdoor pool heated with water from the lake, the largest outdoor pool in St. Moritz. Paradiso, the hotel's mountain club, serves Alpine food and cocktails for skiers.
The hotel opens for two seasons a year. Winter 2026 to 2027 runs from 3 December 2026 to 30 March 2027, and summer 2026 ran from 5 June to 7 September.
